Wound detail

The documentary features real-life images of Travis’ injuries from drumming, and of his third degree burns from the plane crash. The images are graphic and often overlaid with audio descriptions of the injuries.

We see photos of his blistered thumbs, exposing pink and red skin, and we see dead skin, half detached from his palm.

There are images of Travis’ injuries post-plane crash while in recovery. Pictures show legs and the hospital bed covered in blood. There are other images of his legs bandaged, and reenactment footage showing bloody bandages.

Suicide themes

Travis does not attempt suicide but recalls wanting to end his life post-plane crash.

He later talks about finding purpose in life, and the importance of being present for his family.

Offensive language

Frequent strong language including “s**t” and “f**k” is used casually in the interviews and in songs played.

Drug references

There are regular references to drugs including ‘hotboxing’, ‘Xanax bars’ and ‘Vicodin’.

Travis talks about his addiction to painkillers and other prescription pills. His ex-wife recounted he would sometimes take 20 or 30 pills a day.

The documentary references the other plane crash survivor, DJ AM, and their addiction and subsequent drug overdose.

Drugs are not portrayed positively. We see Travis’ road to recovery and sobriety.
