Horror

The horror is the film is largely from the terror of being trapped in the house, with people facing starvation, and from the threat of strange sea creatures that attack humans.

The scary creatures are frightening in appearance, with many tentacles, and they can move very quickly.

There is constant peril, and the soundtrack features eerie music to reinforce this.

Violence

There are scenes of the creatures attacking humans showing some blood and death. Dead bodies are shown but there are no gory wounds.

The characters set traps for animals, intending to eat them.

A sick pet dog is shot and killed. We don’t see it happen, but we hear the gunshot and see the emotional reaction of the family members. Once the dog is dead, we see it covered with a blanket. After a character is told to “handle” the dog’s body, they are shown washing a bloody knife.
