Sex scenes
The series is a romantic drama that frequently features sex scenes. In episode one, there is a sex scene between two characters that includes partial nudity. The focus is on the passion between the characters, and the scene itself is brief. In episode two, there is a rough sex scene that takes place following a fight between the characters.
Violence
The series is set during the Jacobite rising, with significant violence between the English and the Scottish rebels. This includes sword fighting, gun violence and hand-to-hand combat. There is also violence towards women that reflects the attitudes and treatment of women during the time period, including a character being backhanded across the face by her older brother.
One character is held in a medical treatment facility where he is subjected to electric shock treatment because those around him believe he is insane.
Based on the previous season and the wider Outlander series, of which this is a prequel, further episodes are expected to contain violence and bloody injuries. There may also be sexual violence.
Offensive language
The series contains the use of offensive language such as words like “bastard” and "c*ck.”
