Suicide

There are several depictions of suicide and some suicide references, including:

  • A lifeless older man on a bloody mat is said to have committed ‘seppuku’ (a method of suicide).
  • A man’s dangling body and legs are visible through a doorway; his head is not visible.
  • A character references his wife drowning herself due to fatigue.

Bloody violence

Most of the film is made up of long, supernatural fight sequences, with large amounts of blood and unrealistic injuries. The strongest injuries are on the demons, who do not appear to feel pain and are able to regenerate from most injuries. Stronger examples of violence include:

  • A character stabs a demon in the eye. The blade is shown going into the eye and blood spurts out.
  • A demon’s hand goes completely through another demon’s head and out the other side.
  • There is a massacre involving snapping arms, people being punched through their chest, bleeding wounds and other injuries. The room is dark, and the action is fast.
  •  A character bursts into blood as a demon cut them dozens of times over their body. This happens very fast.
  • There are many decapitations, limbs being severed and large cuts made into demons, most of which heal quickly.

Cruelty

Many of the characters have experienced cruelty in their past, which is shown in flashbacks. Examples include:

  • The owner of a dojo and his daughter are harassed for years by a neighbour, scaring off all potential students and threatening violence. They are eventually killed.
  • A child is given the lash as punishment for stealing. He has cuts, bruises and welts all over his body.

Content that may disturb

The film has horror content including:

  • Large beast-like demons who aggressively attack the demon hunters.
  • Humanoid demons with disturbing features like extra eyes, grotesque skin, or large wounds on their body.
  • The demons do disturbing acts such as eating their victims, absorbing people through fleshy masses on their skin, or sucking life out of people.
