Sex scenes and sexual violence themes

There is a lot of sexual references and casual conversations about sex. There's a lot of dark, crude sexual humour.  The strongest scenes include:

  • A used condom left in the bathroom
  • A large collection of vibrators are shown
  • A character violently masturbates through her clothes in public after spotting another person masturbating on the train watching her group of friends. This is an isolated scene, and her character is considered quite an activist.

In one storyline, a character realises he once had sex with someone who was too drunk to consent. The incident is revisited and apologised for, with the other party downplaying offense, but consent issues are acknowledged. Another character is sexually harassed at work (off screen) and some members of the group looks to support them through activism. These scenes may be upsetting for some viewers.

Offensive language

There is frequent use of offensive language through the series including words like “f**k”, “bitch” and “asshole.” The group often use creative and coarse ways of talking which some viewers may find offensive.

Drug references

It is implied that characters get stoned and do cocaine, as well as talking about drug use. One character arrives at a dinner party high after taking ketamine. The character is clearly not in a good place and begins acting strangely – including when he eats raw chicken.

Helplines:

Although it is low level, the sexual violence could be upsetting for some viewers, especially for those who have gone through similar experiences. If you are struggling with what you have seen on-screen please reach out for help. If you or someone you know needs to talk:
