We're recruiting for our Youth Advisory Panel!
Curious about the NZ classification system?
Keen to discuss content that impacts young people?
Are you 16-19 years old and Wellington based?
We're currently looking for diverse and enthusiastic young people to join our Youth Advisory Panel (YAP).
The Panel gives rangatahi a genuine opportunity to have a say in the work we do and help shape how we talk to young people, parents, whānau and the wider community about media and online content. There are also opportunities to attend conferences, speak at events, and develop new skills, such as blog writing.
About you:
We’re looking for people who are interested in screens and the online world in some way. You might be into gaming, films, social media, streaming, online communities or simply have strong views about the content young people are watching and interacting with.
We’re particularly interested in hearing from a diverse range of young people and welcome applications from people with different backgrounds, interests and experiences.
You also are:
- Aged 16-19 years old
- Wellington or Greater Wellington based
- Available to attend in-person monthly meetings on either a Tuesday or Thursday afternoon
What’s involved?
- Meetings are usually held once a month on either a Tuesday or Thursday, from 4.30pm–6.30pm.
- Meetings are generally held in our Wellington Office on the Terrace, with some meetings taking place online or at another agencies' Office if there is a collaboration.
- There may occasionally be a Saturday activity, but we give plenty of notice.
- We pay for members’ travel costs and provide food at meetings. Occasionally, we’ll go out for dinners together to celebrate achievements.
The panel runs as a safe and supportive space where young people’s views are taken seriously, and feed into tangible outputs.
