Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey is a slasher horror monster film.

The facts

  • English language
  • Runtime: 84 minutes
  • Based on (but very different from) the characters from the children’s books created by A. A. Milne

Why did it get this rating?

Horror

The film contains many horror elements, including horror music, jump scares, serial killer monsters and dimly lit isolated settings with blood and entrails.

The film is about well-known children’s characters as horror creatures – not as you may nostalgically remember them! Make sure everyone you’re watching this with is across the content warning.

Graphic violence and cruelty

The violence is over-the-top with prosthetics and copious blood splatter creating ‘gross-out’ effects. Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet kill their victims with sledgehammers, chains, knives, machetes and blunt force trauma.

Much of the violence has a cruel and unnecessary tone, including a scene where a man is whipped and another where a woman’s head is driven over.

Offensive language

The film includes occasional offensive language, including “f**k”, “f**king” and “sh*t”.
