Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
Bloody violence Rated on: 23 May 2023

What’s it about?
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun is a fast-paced and fun, but quite violent, first-person shooter with arena-style combat and retro visuals. Play as a heavily-armoured Space Marine slaying heretics in the name of the Emperor.
The facts
- Mixes a 3D world with 2D enemies, like in Paper Mario or Blood
- Based on the Warhammer 40,000 world of table-top tactics
- Wield a chainsword
Why did it get this rating?
Horror
Some of the enemies are inter-dimensional beings, with tentacles and toothy jaws. This will not be scary for most players, but might frighten young children.
Violence
The game has a whole bunch of blood and gore, with big blood bursts and messy remains. However, the sci-fi–fantasy setting, and the way in which the 2D enemies move around, mean it’s not so believable. Alongside the comic-book style and pixelated visuals, this is representative rather than realistic gore.
