Titane
Violence, sex scenes, nudity and content that may disturb Rated on: 24 November 2021

What's it about?
Titane is a dark and unusual film of body horror, bizarre car sex and sudden vicious violence. It is presented in French with English subtitles and screens as part of the New Zealand International Film Festival 2021.
Why did we make it R18?
The tangible brutality of the fight scenes are quite confrontational, even where the deaths are indicated off-screen. With the added cruelty of senseless murder, and how everyday objects are used as murder weapons, these scenes are likely to shock and disturb most viewers, particularly children and teenagers. The violence is presented in a slick upbeat manner which is also likely to normalise violence for younger people. Titane is restricted to adults.
