Horror and violence
This supernatural horror film is intended to scare, with frequent jump scares, visual effects, and unsettling sound design. Some of the strongest moments of horror and violence include:
- A woman in labour experiences a horrifying vision of a demon as she delivers a stillborn baby. The baby is resuscitated; however this scene may be upsetting for some viewers.
- A character projectile vomits a large amount of blood before extracting a shard of glass from their throat.
- A character is chased and attacked by a man with an axe.
- A woman is strangled by an arm that bursts out of a mirror.
- A possessed character contorts their body and scurries across the floor on all fours.
Suicide
Characters under the control of an evil spirit kill themselves, or attempt to kill themselves, by hanging. While not realistic to real-life circumstances, these scenes may be distressing for some viewers.
Youth Advisory Panel comments
We were grateful to have a member of our Youth Advisory Panel view the film with Classification Office staff.
They found the final climactic scenes “really intense” and “gross” and noting an injury to a man's leg. They commented that there was “lots of suicide” but acknowledged that it was more about supernatural possession than suicidal ideation.
