It Follows

What’s it about?

It Follows is a horror film about a young woman, Jay, who is stalked by a malevolent entity after having sex with her boyfriend. Hugh, her boyfriend, tells her that she is now cursed: a creature will come after her and try to kill her, unless she passes it to someone else by having sex with them.

Violence

It Follows contains frequent violence and a number of horror elements. Some of the strongest moments include:

  • A monster stalks and kills characters.
  • A character is hit by a car, her body shown in a disturbing position on the road afterwards.
  • Characters shoot a monster but miss, accidentally injuring others.

Sex scenes

There are brief non-explicit sex scenes, in which characters are clothed, and the activity is also hard to see because of the camera angle.

In one scene, a character flicks through a magazine with images of naked women in it. The women are posed in a sexual manner, with breasts and genitals visible, however they are only seen briefly.

There is also a suggestion of sexual activity between the monster and a human.

Offensive language

Language includes “f**k,” “sh*t,” and “bullsh*t.”
