Bad Boys for Life

What is it?

The third film in the Bad Boys series, Bad Boys For Life is a fast-paced, buddy-cop film continuing the adventures of detectives Mike Lowry and Marcus Burnett. Now in middle age, Marcus wants to retire from the violence of cop life but after an assassination attempt on Mike fails and a string of people connected to them are murdered, Marcus is drawn into the investigation. Joined by a younger team, Mike is challenged to curb his extreme methods in order to conduct a safer investigation.

What to expect

Bad Boys For Life is a fun, fast-moving and action-packed film in the buddy-cop genre. As the third and supposedly last instalment in the Bad Boys franchise (17 years after Bad Boys 2) it is likely to appeal to both fans of the previous films as well as Martin Lawrence and Will Smith fans. The extent and the general tone of violence as entertainment means that unrestricted access to the film is likely to have an inuring effect on children. The execution-style murders and moments of cruelty are likely to shock children, as they are abrupt and set outside of the context of traditional fight scenes. However, given the details of injury are not lingered on, teenagers and adults are better able to contextualise these scenes as plot devices.
