What's it about?
Back 4 Blood is a co-operative first person shooter for 1 - 4 players. It is set in a post-apocalyptic America where a parasite has infected and mutated much of the population. Players assume the role of one of eight human survivors as they battle to reach the stronghold of Fort Hope, help other survivors, and work to clear the township of the Ridden. Armed with military and improvised weaponry, players battle their way through hordes of ravenous humans, mutated humanoids, and monstrous creatures to achieve their goals. Repeatedly playing through the levels unlocks new equipment and gameplay tweaks to add variety and new challenges to the game.
What to expect
The game involves frantic and frequent violent combat against a variety of horrific creatures. As they are struck, shot and exploded, the game presents both bloody violence and dismemberment. While the game is horror themed throughout, it focuses on adrenaline rather than dread. As the characters talk and exclaim in response to events players will hear them use highly offensive language. The relentless blood and gore has the potential to inure younger audiences to violence. It is also likely to shock and disturb younger audiences and children. However older teenagers and adults can reconcile this stronger violence and horror within the apocalyptic setting and enjoy the co-operative and competitive play without being unduly affected. As a result, Back 4 Blood is restricted to those aged 16 years and over.
