Welcome to all teachers and students interested in learning more about censorship. In this section you will find information on showing films in primary, intermediate and secondary schools, as well as information about our Censor for a Day events.
In February 2010 we launched our student site with information targeted at students (and teachers) looking at censorship, in particular Media Studies Level 3 Achievement Standard AS90779 - Investigate an aspect of media and explain its significance for New Zealand. At the start of 2011 we introduced new resources to the site to coincide with the introduction of Level 1 Media Studies.
While the majority of resources on our site will be useful for all levels, some will be of more relevance to either older or younger students.
The student website has all the information that you previously found on our main site, plus a whole lot more!
If you have questions which are not answered here, please contact the Information Unit.
What you'll find on this site:
* New case studies on films and video games
*A timeline of key moments in New Zealand censorship history
*Answers to FAQs about the censorship system
